The Saturday Show is a new comedy show on Mix 101.1 on Saturday mornings(as the title says) hosted by Corrine Grant and Tom Gleeson with anchor Jacob Pavlovich. The show is broadcast between 8-10am every saturday and is the type of show that is designed to get you out of bed on a Sat morning and get you laughing.
Corrine and Tom are well known to audiences, Corrine has appeared on Rove and The Glass House, and Tom on Skithouse. Both these two have great on-air chemistry. They have’nt just been paired together by some Program Director of the station, they have known each other for a long time, both appearing on Skithouse and touring on the stand-up career, and they have said on-air they live close together.
Whilst listening, I noticed the two don’t interrupt each other which is a great thing about the show as they don’t try and be the first to speak whilst on-air. The general flow of the show is good as they play a song, will talk for a bit, talk to callers on-air and go to commercial. The discussion is good as they don’t talk for too long and doesn’t come across as trying to fill two hours.
The two have only been on-air for 2 months and are so far travelling along nicely, they have been given a bit of a go as they are currently filling in for the regular show. Management obviously like their style to be given this two week timeslot as this is usually reserved for playing the best bits of the regular breakfast show so listeners don’t go elsewhere.
